Should I get a Home Inspection when buying a home in Crofton, MD?

Question MarkMy short answer is yes, my long answer is yes, and anything in between...my answer is YES. I don't care how clean the house looks to you, your father, your uncle or your cousin..."who knows a lot about houses." GET A HOME INSPECTION!

It's not cheap having a home inspection done here in Crofton, MD. For a single family home, the cost could easily exceed $500. The reference point you should remember though is that it's $500, compared to the purchase of a house in Crofton, which may very well be over $350,000 or more.

The contract of sale requires sellers to perform certain repairs. Without a home inspection outlining what those repairs are, you're pretty much out of luck. The worse thing you want to do is to move into a new home, and have to start putting out money for expensive repairs.

That $500 home inspection, could easily pay for itself several times over. Even if the sellers say they won't do any repairs, the home inspection report may give you and your agent plenty of ammunition to exit the contract, if you choose.

Don't fall into this trap that it's a sellers market, and your offer would be stronger without a home inspection contingency. Those types of purchases frequently end up being a money pit after the purchase.
