This is a great time of year to live on Crofton Parkway in Crofton, Maryland.
Starting in March, the blossoms come out on the Cherry Blossoms and Dogwoods that surround the Parkway’s 3.5 mile loop. For many residents it is the best time of year. As a resident of Crofton Parkway, I can attest to the fact that it's better than when the stately oaks start to drop their leaves in the fall.
The blossoms last for a couple of weeks and than they're gone for another year. Replaced by the green leaves of Spring and Summer.
While they're here the view is magnificent. When I'm driving in from anywhere I take the longest route around the parkway so I can enjoy the blossoms while they're still around.
If you find yourself in or around Crofton, MD at the end of March, or the first week of April, take a slow ride around the parkway. You'll enjoy the scene. BTW, the speed limit is 25mph and it's enforced pretty well by the local Crofton Police.

Rich...
Our cherry blossoms were knocked down by heavy rains and wind this year, so we only got to enjoy them for a week or so. But the dogwoods are magnificent this year ... one of the shows in recent years!
Richard, They're on their way out quickly. We did lose a lot of petals due to wind and rain too. Oh well, there's always next year. Rich
Beautiful photos of your local scenery, Rich! I'm sure the locals will appreciate the warning about the 25 m.p.h. speed limit.
Gorgeous, Rich. The cherry trees are incredible. One of the few things my area is lacking! ;) Is this the same neighborhood swallowed in fog previously? Remember the Stephen King movie? LOL
Debi
Pat, I always see cars pulled over. 25 mph does seem pretty slow but it is a neighborhood street.
Debi, Actually, I took the shot from the same spot in the driveway, just facing the other direction. The fog shot is still kind of eerie.
Rich - I love the blossom season... as short as it is. Should be another couple of weeks and we'll have some too! Beautiful shots. ~Rita
Rich,
Absolutely stunning color. I'm going to have to schedule a trip specifically to see these again. :)
Steve
I love the color....
When the blossoms fall, it looks like is snowing PINK snow!
The flowers look like cotton candy! How beautiful. Thanks for posting.
This is one of the things I miss about not being in Tallahassee, FL anymore. Spring was always spectacular, with an explosion of colors. Where we are, the azaleas don't quite bloom the same way. I am simply thrilled when I see a single dogwood tree.
