There actually is a phobia to escalators called Escalaphobia. I suspect there is a phobia to just about anything. This is the escalator to Woodley Park on the Washington, DC Metro. It doesn't even make the top three of being the longest in the system.

Richard, that is a very cool shot. Thanks and have a great day.
Richard, my first guess would have been the Roslyn Station. You captured it nicely.
Hi Rich:
Need shot...
That escalator looks like it's in a tunnel.
I'm sure that there's a fear of that too...no less both fears combined!
Thanks for sharing your photo on a fine Friday morning. Keep up the great work.
This is very scary to those of us that have a phobia (Photoescalaphobia) of photos of long escalators in concrete tunnels!!! Very scary indeed!!!
Very cool, it's been a while since I have been on the metro
Hi Richard, Good post. Thanks for sharing.
Best - Sash
The one in Dupont Circle is scary too. This is a really cool photo.
That takes care of 2 of my phobias: Escalaters and claustrophobia. Yikes!
Hi Richard
Outstanding shot it looks like it goes on forever.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Richard - Very cool photo and the escalator looks endless I am surprised it didn't even make the top three.
Richard - how cool is that! Very cool! Luckily I am not one of the sufferers of this phobia :) ~Rita
Rich...that is an amazing photo. The lighting is unique from what I've seen of escalators, but the tunnel with the ratcheting on the sides could be scary even for those with no phobia. Very interesting!
Kevin, Thanks for stopping by and have a great day yourself.
Mike, As you well know, they all look quite a bit alike.
Toula, When some tourists look at these things they don't know what to do.
Harry, Thanks and have a great weekend.
Dan, Come on, I know home inspectors have seen worse.
Connie, I know they just had a recent horrible accident but it usually is a great way to travel.
Sash, Thanks for stopping by.
Stacey Ann, There are a number of really big escalators in the Metro system.
Kris, I thought people from the mitten were tougher than that.
Lou, When you're standing at the base it really does look like it goes on forever.
Jackie, It probably made the top five.
Rita, You would be surprised how many people are afraid of escalators, especially ones that big.
Gail, It is pretty dark in the Metro so I had to crank up the ISO to 1600. I'm sure some of the lighting is because of that. The Metro architecture throughout the system is pretty stark with a lot of concrete. The large escalators look like they're in a half moon.
What a cool shot, Rich! I would love to see this one day - You did an excellent job capturing the dimension and perspective of this. Excellent!
Debi
Debi,
About a half a dozen escalators are very deep in the DC Metro system. Par for the course in the busy DC area, people take the escalator and walk up and down to get to the end faster. The protocol is to stand to the right so people can pass...just like the highway.
Rich
Same protocol on the moving walkways in the airports, too. This really is a cool shot, Rich!
Debi
Debi,
Been to Denver Airport many times when I worked in telecommunications. Heck, round trip to Denver was a day trip out of Baltimore. I must have been nuts.
Rich
Denver yes, and Chicago is another with the walkways - I admit, I'm always one of the ones passing...LOL
Rich.
I figured it was on the Metro someplace. I've taken this one a few times. Actually walked the stairs at DuPont once when it was out of order. :)
Steve
Richard.
That is one long escalator, I bet it would be a fun ride too.
GOOD MORNING RICHARD! It's a beautiful photo - how long is it? -- Gab
Richard - That's a great shot. I have a cousin who is afraid of escalators and refuses to be on it.
I think the title should have been tunnel vision. I had to get my dictionary out Richard :)
