Crofton MD Dog Owners Beware

I guess Anne Arundel County MD is getting tired of complaints about dogs from property owners, because I'm seeing new signs popping up in Crofton MD.

Crofton MD is a great place to live and if you've spent any time here at all you know that Crofton residents do a lot of walking on the parkway. Walkers, joggers, bike riders, baby strollers, and probably more than anything else...dog walkers.

I live on Crofton Parkway and most of the dog walkers are diligent about carrying plastic bags to dispose of... well, I don't need to be graphic here. Most dog walkers are responsible, unfortunately though, not all.

It's not the dog's fault when they have to go. That's just what dogs do. When I walk my two dogs I end up carrying four bags. Don't ask, they just really like the parkway I guess.

Now, however, dog walkers are being warned that they could incur a fine if they don't pick up after Fido.  a pretty expensive squat if you ask me.

Richard, It's common courtesy to pick up after your dog and you're right, it isn't the dog's fault.

I carry enough dog bags to hand them to people as they walk away from their responsibilities!

The way I see it,

Hi Rich!  I always carry a bag when I walk my JJ and I do notice that there are little gifts left by other dogs that have owners that do not pick them up.  And this is on our neighbor's lawns.  I sometimes think that because I am seen, all of the time, out with my dog, that they may think it's me.  So I carry the bag in plain view so everyone can see that I am a responsible mamma to my JJ!

They say that things start in California and work their way east across the country. We've had dog-scooping laws out here for at least 22 years that I know of.

I'm actually pretty surprised that there has to be a sign about this.  It's been years since I've seen a dog walker that isnt' carrying a baggie.  Just common courtesy.
