Wow, I have had that happen before, bird seed or grass seed? What a mess!!! Happy Holidays!
You gotta love those squirrels. At first I thought you had a ruptured gas line or similar that they may have eaten through.
Christine: Looks like they feasted on the bird seed and then went for the grass seed as a dessert.
Richard, I feel your pain :o) Been there and done that. Although the door dosen't have to be open because the little critters are smart and they often figure a way in.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Richard - I had a similar situation out in my tool shed last year! I had a good sized bag of wildflower seed out there, and the squirrels got into it and scattered it all over the floor. The good news - when I went to clean it up, I decided to also clean out the shed. I put everything out on the lawn, swept, and then hosed it out. Quite a number of seeds sprouted around the outside edge, and were really pretty a few weeks later.
Guy: They're too smart for that...darn.
Bill: Had a possum crawl in about four years ago and pass away. It was the dead of winter and I didn't find him until Spring.
Myrl: Good idea. When can you come out and do the same for my shed :)
Richard
I've also had the same mess.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Oh my gosh - looks like they had a party and invited all their friends!!
That's a familiar sight Richard. We have this little red squirrel and no matter what we do, he makes his way into our shed and every spring we open it and black walnuts roll out just like a Chip and Dale cartoon!
Geez, they had a party in there, huh? Was that just after one night? Craziness! I hope it wasn't too much of a hassle to clean up!
Looks like the squirrels had a little feast and some fun in your shed...
Lou: Wherever there are squirrels, I guess.
Nancy: Looks like they sent out invitations.
Susan: What do you think...a little garlic and olive oil. Probably tastes like chicken.
Carissa: Backpack leaf blower. Nothing to it.
Caron: 6 pounds of birdseed and a little grass seed mixed in too.
And to think we get so excited to see a squirel. You would probably like to catch that one.
Rich...
Why, those pesky little rascals will get into anything!
Randy: Too many around here.
Richard: I've pretty much given up. They own my yard.
Hi Richard ~ I think I have a skunk family in my shed. Earlier this year I saw three or four little ones come out from under the canoe that's stored aside the shed. Now my shed has a pretty strong smell. Thankfully the shovels are up by the door - where I stowed them in July!! - all this blogging I got behind on house chores.
Liz
Richard, give them an inch!
Richard, I put my hands on the laptop screen, and I can feel your pain, brother. I did this once. Right after that I proceeded to my nearest home improvement store and got tubs to store my seeds in...
Helping you live your American dream...
Elizabeth: After hearing that, I'll just keep my squirrels.
Tony/Darcy: Kind of like kids.
Mike: I'll have to think about that. They'll either eat it in the shed or in the bird feeders.
Well, lessons learned Richard. We are sharing this planet with these critters and they like what we provide them, or what they can steal from us.
Richard, We live in a rural area and have to use food containers with secure lids, otherwise it would be a free for all between the squirrels, neighbor cats and racoons! These squirrels are smart! Every year, just before the almonds are ready to harvest, they pick every single one of them! I figure, one year, I'll surprise them!
Those rotten bushy-tailed rascals! Thank God they didn't steel your power washer!
Hi Rich, a few years ago I had a mama squirrel nesting in my garage. Bummer.
Debi
Gabe: Next time there's an Ark needed to be built I can think of two animals that better learn to swim.
Wanda: The little buggers are smart...and fast.
Tom: I guess it didn't taste good.
Deb: As bad as they are, I still prefer them to Pepe La Pew.
Looks to me like the squirrels had their Holiday party at your expense and this is just a photo of the "morning after."
I hate that kind of clean-up... the best way is to plug in the shop vac and go for it.
