As soon as they started calling for snow here on the East Coast, the ritual of going to the store for staples began. I guess we're not as hardy a group as those of you in the mid-West and West. We have to get in the car at the first mention of snow to stock up on provisions. The stores today were beyond crazy.
For whatever reason, somebody decided that snow storm staples are bread, milk and toilet paper. It doesn't matter that you haven't had a glass of milk in forty years, all of a sudden it becomes the most important thing in the world.
We're wimps, but we're well fed and sanitary just in case we have a recurrence of the storm of '03. When you start hoarding tp from the rest of the family, you know it was a big storm.
Wish us luck. The forecast is calling for up to 23 inches in some cases. No showings tomorrow or Sunday I'm guessing. Of course, it could just all blow over like so many missed forecasts have in the past.
The snow blower is all gassed up and ready to go...just in case. Oh yeah, there is a sleeve of chocolate chip cookies right next to the glass of milk ;)

The malls were crazy too since everybody was trying to get all their shopping done ahead of the storm. We may need to borrow your snow blower if we get as much as they are claiming because that will not be fun to shovel.
Richard,
We had 24 inches last week in 2 days.. we just now got the circle drive plowed.. we have a blade on an ATV and park it in the garage backwards so the blade comes out first plowing.. it works great.. We live about 30 miles from Flagstaff, AZ where it really snows.. we are from Colorado originally, so we know snow... but this.."When you start hoarding tp from the rest of the family, you know it was a big storm." is just too funny! Hasn't gotten that bad EVER! hope you TP lasts!
Your friend in the Cosmic Cow Pie.
Brrr - that photo made me have chills. Now the cookies sound really good though :) ~Rita
Rich....
It looks like you're going to have a white Christmas no matter what! I hope that you get to stay inside and warm!
Rich, I'm supposed to show houses tomorrow, so I hope the forecasters are wrong. Max, on the other hand, is over the moon with anticipation! Loves the snow! JJ, on the other hand... not so much!
Stacey Ann: It took me an hour just to get out of Giant with the "staples." No way I was going anywhere near a mall.
Carra: A foot of snow around here paralyzes the entire area. We're just not that good at it.
Rita: When do cookies not sound good?
Richard: Definately a "White Christmas" this year.
Susan: When I have to shovel out an area where my two dogs do their "business," its too much snow.
Richard, so true. We have a similar ritual prior to hurricanes.
GOOD MORNING RICH! "Cookies Calm" - in any situation - you gotta have them! Sending some sunshine your way from AZ! -- Gab
At least you have a nice hat to wear while running the snow blower, Rich!
I do hoppe that you won't get the full impact of the snow. That is just too much during all of this global warming conversation......
This is so true! I was out after a setttlement last night LATE and the little local Grocery Store was packed at 10PM. Usually it is a Ghost Town then. Yep, milk, TP, and I forgot the eggs. Rats!
So true for NJ. Also reminds me of the time I got so much snow I had to break our back door's screen to walk around front and shovel.
Oh, how were the other doors... able to get out?
I've spent some winters in Wyoming and Colorad.. Some scenes very similar to this.
That is quite a picture! Stay warm and be safe Rich!
Is that really a snow drift against the front door? Good Lord! How'd you get out for the cookies and milk? LOL
Is this a shot of the storm of '03, or now?
