I've seen a couple of posts in the last couple of days about decluttering so you can go into the New Year clean and lean. I tend to be a packrat so I really appreciate the tips.
With that in mind, I started looking at my blog subscription list. Without realizing it, that list can get a bit cluttered too. Of course the ones that filter to the top are still posting and I'm still reading and commenting.
As I scroll down though, the picture begins to change. Some haven't blogged in a month or two. Maybe they'll be back. You get a reprieve for now. The further down the list I go the chances of them coming back get slimmer and slimmer. I've got about ten on the list that haven't posted anything since August 2009 or earlier. Maybe they'll be back, but I doubt it. I'm pretty sure this one won't be back...Last Post: 03/06/09 09:42 PM Posts: 347.
I do wonder what happened to some of them. I've sent emails and gotten some responses. Mostly, they had to leave real estate as a career choice. Too bad. One or two have just chosen to leave Active Rain for Facebook. That one I don't really get but, to each his own, I guess.
I'll miss my friends in their new endeavors. Their contributions to Active Rain are in the archives but not forgotten.

Richard, great plan. I am in the process of doing exactly the same thing. I have folks on my list who haven't posted a blog since March/April. Bye-bye I guess.
The other thing I have been trying to do is go through my emails and delete emails that I just don't need, and UNSUBSCRIBE to all the junk email I seem to get, from places that somehow find me. Yesterday, I bet you I unsubscribed from at least 10 or 12 companies that I do not need to have sending me an email every single day.
Happy New Year
Thanks for the post. Since I haven't been on Active Rain that long I don't have to worry about uncluttering any subscription lists. I am still just picking and choosing from the many possibilities without establishing favorites. Charlie Gantz, Greenwood, IN; J.D., M.B.A.; Owner/Principal Broker, Atlas Commercial Real Estate, LLC
I feel bad to do this but you are right, som haven't posted in a very long time... I better not find out you unsubscribed from me! Hell has no fury... and all that!
Rich, That is a good plan and know I should do that as well. I have many who have just stopped posting so I will work toward making a decision...maybe tomorrow!
I think we all need to re-evaluate where we spend out time and what can go for the next year.

I'm in the process of decluttering my office and that a job.
Good luck and success.

I was doing this too. I have some people whose blogs I really enjoyed but they haven't posted in a long time. I keep hoping they'll be back so I am reluctant to delete them. However, I set a rule for myself, if they haven't blogged in 4 months then I need to unsubscribe and look for some new people to read.
Richard,
You bring up an interesting point..... why would someone with 347 posts stop posting last March? I think a direct message to that person might be a good idea.
The other thing you bring to mind is the fact that we all grow at different levels in social media or blogging.. it takes practice and patience and participation.. hey a new post idea.. the 3 P's of survival! Maybe some of those people need is a little encouragement and comments on their posts... could it be they were in on the free program and only posting for members and didn't realize they needed to post for the public... hey 2 more P's ... the thread is great here and I am learning a lot... if you unsubscribe from someone is that like unfriending them in facebook? mmmm guess if you get in the game you better bring the A game!
Happy New Year!
Richard, excellent idea. Of course, you won't be de-cluttered. Have a great New Year!
Howdy and Morning Richard
Alot of folks that I became good friends with over the pass few years, have also gone by the wayside. Some of the folks were the top active members back when I first join the AR community in 2007, and gave me alot help with learning about blogging. Just like yourself, I would contact them about comming back. Some did come back for a bit, and then was gone all over again. Over the last couple of years I have subscribe to 4000 folks. Over hafe them have not been active since 2007. I have unsubscribe from 3,171, hafe of those folks have nver stoped by my blog, and over hafe of those are no longger active here in the community.
Wishen you and your family a safe and Happy New Year!!!
