iPhone inductive charging pad

iPhoneI could absolutely see myself in Myrl Jeffcoat's post the other day about keeping up with charging batteries for all of our electronic devices.

I admit to being a technology hog, and in my case, the amount of devices I have to charge is really getting out of hand.

  • 2 cellphones
  • Landline phone
  • Bluetooth headset
  • Netbook
  • Laptop
  • eBook Reader

etc....

The other day I was in the mall getting the battery (oops) changed in my watch and I was browsing through Brookstone while I waited. What you see in the picture is an iPhone case which has a built in inductive charger for the iPhone.

The pad is plugged in but the iPhone sits on top and automatically charges without attaching any wires. Still receives calls and emails while in the charger. At least for the iPhone, now I just drop it on the charging pad and I'm done. No fuss, no muss.

I'll take two of those--one for home and one for the office.

Had it not been for 3 letters, I would be owning an iPhone. Instead, I own a Droid...

Does this work with a blackberry too?  Maybe I should find a Brookstones' around here.

Nice little tool for productivity Richard.  I mentioned these chargers a while back in one of my blogs.

Richard - I like the looks of that charging system and it reminds me of how they are charging the Palm Pre.

Rich, cool, if only it worked for more than one gadget.  How about a universal charger?

Rich - I'm for anything that makes life easier. I too, have way too many devices!

Rich yes the list of gadget needing a charge is growing, if only the type of charger for the IPhone would work withthe others.

We'd heard about these pads Rich. It should be able to charge some of your other gizmos too right?

Cool! there is a HotPad type device at BestBuy for $99 that charges all kinds of devices... Looks like a mini serving plate that could hold several devices at once...

I've never heard of this.  I'll have to check it out.  Thanks for the info,

I've heard about these charging pads. Technology is advancing at such a rapid pace, it's so hard to keep up.

By the way, Michael hit th nail on the head about owning an iPhone.....Those nasty 3 letters keep me away from owning one too.

Rich ~ I am a gadget person too! I don't have a Netbook, or eBook Reader!! What am I missing????  I do have 4 station computers at home with dual monitors, 2 landlines, fax line, 3 cell lines (only 1 is public). In crazy reality. Best Buy in California Md - knows me. I have all the other crazy stuff that a home needs..lol. Too many TV's, Ipods, Wii & all the games etc... By the end of the year, I have enough points to buy Christmas presents. So, let me know what gadget you need. lol (You would think I would have a Netbook or eBook) What's wrong with me??

Richard, I am so the opposite. Margaret Rome shamed me into getting a laptop last year! How embarrassing! LOL

Richard - Thanks for the mention!

The increasing number of technological gismos it takes to keep us up and running has become astronomical.  It's pretty incredible that you can actually charge something without plugging in!

My question is what on earth did we do before we had all these gadgets???

I have seen these, but I think the cost hasn't made it practical yet.  I am sure in the near future, all our handheld devices will have induction charging.  I hate the tangle of wires too.

How easy is that.  I cannot imagine what we will be dealing with next year, or month!  Perhaps a solar charging pad, and I am sure they have that now as well.  Hard to keep up.
