The short answer to that question is yes. Crofton, MD, like many other communities here in Suburban Maryland is very competive when it comes to selling your home. The current inventory is high, and buyers can afford to be picky about which home they purchase.
Certainly, the outside of your home has to show as well as the inside to attract as many buyers as possible. You've probably heard the expression..."you don't get another chance to make a first impression." Well, it's true. I've dealt with many a buyer who eliminated a house because the exterior "curb appeal" wasn't up to par. If the outside of your Crofton, MD house for sale needs cleaning or painting...do it. Painting the outside trim finishes off the appearance of your house and adds to it's curb appeal.
Once you fix the outside and can attract more buyers, its time to take a look inside. Painting is one of the least expensive ways for you to increase the value of your home. Keep it neutral. There is a lot of evidence that beige walls and white trim are the favorites with buyers. They're neutral, and blend well with most furniture. When you're selling your home, it's not the right time for bold experimentation with paint. Let the new buyers paint whatever color they want...after they move in.
If you're like most home sellers, once you make the decision to sell your home, you want it to go as quickly as possible. Inside and outside painting is one of the best, and least expensive ways to make your Crofton, MD home for sale more marketable.
If you're thinking about putting your home on the market, and you're not already working with an agent...I can help.

OMG, just had this conversation with my prospective clients. They want X for their home, but the exterior needs a dire paint job. Curb appeal is a must!
Interesting question. I often get suspicious. What are they hiding...
Absolutely. Freshen the place up and dispense with the often darker and less neutral tones.Thumbs up from NY.
Oh my goodness..yes yes and yes! A fresh coat of paint is one of the least expensive and highest impact things you can do to get your house ready for the market. It may seem fine but those nicks and scratches make a difference when they are gone. Not to mention that not many people appreciate fuscia walls!
MICHELLE: And thats the first thing that potential buyers will see.
MIKE: Spoken like a true home inspector. Remember though, even Freud said, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
J PHILIP: One of the easiest and least expensive fix ups.
KATHRYN: The change with a new paint job is amazing.
Totally agree, however I think it is important for some sellers to have someone come in and point out problem area's. Many sellers don't understand why some things need to be addressed...nice post
If the outside doesn't scream 'COME IN' you have lost a good amount of potential buyers reguardless of what the inside looks like! A fresh coat of paint inside and out is never wasted money!
Rich, In a competitive selling area, it's important to get a buyer through the door and continue to be interested with what the interior has to offer. A neutral color can make a positive impact with potential buyers as well!
