Fireworks displays are a favorite this time of year, and 2011 is no exception. Weather permitting, Annapolis will be holding their Annual Fireworks Display starting at 9:15. The barge will be out on the water where the Severn River meets Spa Creek. For boaters, there is a 1,000 foot safety zone surrounding the barge. The best viewing access for the public will be from City Dock and the Spa Creek bridge. One thing to keep in mind is that large portions of downtown Annapolis will be closed to vehicle traffic starting around 4 PM, until approximately 10:30 PM. Even the Spa Creek bridge will be closed at 9 PM, making Eastport available only to pedestrian traffic for a while.
The drawbridge on the Spa Creek bridge, one of the busiest on the Eastern Seaboard, will be closed to boat traffic as well. Looks like you won’t be able to get your sailboat back into Spa Creek until after 11 PM. Clearly, the best place to park is going to be the Navy-Marine Corp Stadium and trolley in to downtown. Parking is $5, and the round trip trolley to downtown is free.
Schedule of Events for July 4, 2011 in downtown Annapolis:
6:30 PM - Parade going from West Street to Church Circle, then down Main Street.
8:00 PM - Naval Academy Band Concert at Susan Campbell Park on the City Dock.
9:15 PM - Fireworks on the Severn River where it meets Spa Creek. (The fireworks time is approximate due to the possibility of rain and lightning)

Richard, enjoy the fireworks (if you're going to go). We have one of, if not the, biggest and best fireworks shows here in Detroit. I don't go downtown to watch it, too many people. Takes forever to get outta there. Plus, there's some violence every year. I'm good at home.
Richard
I love seeing the reflection off of the water during the show, (Inner Harbour & Annapolis) almost like getting twice the bang for your 4th of July celebration
I love fireworks and the 4th is a perfect reason to celebrate Rich. We a lot of firework restrictions here due to the wet winter and abundant grasses in the area.
Sounds like one of the really great fireworks shows, Rich. I like watching them over the water too.
Love the fireworks as well Rich. What a great way to celebrate 4th of July. Have fun with yours and happy 4th.
Hey Rich - Will you be on one of those sailboats? Toast the 4th for me buddy!
