Are you concerned about whether the person trying to give you a referral from another state is licensed, so that you can legally provide a referral fee? Check out Arello.com.
From their site:
"Use this site to search for a real estate practitioner to verify the current status of that person's license or registration. This tool will research an international database for information you can use to determine whether or not the person with whom you are working is in fact authorized to assist you for a fee in a real estate transaction."
It's getting harder to hide on the internet.

Not so accurate. I just checked for my license and it isn't showing, and I know I'm licensed!
Thank you...we get and give them all the time...this is a great resource....we appreciate it !
I had no idea this little tool exists. THANKS! I needed this tool, what perfect timing!
I always research and confirm that they are licensed! I ask that they fill out a form and sign it and have their broker sign it as well.
Very handy tool. Thanks Richard.
Richard...
Oh wow, I didn't know about this site! So, maybe their mother is NOT an agent? Very useful info.
