I THOUGHT MY SCROLLING PROBLEM WAS BACKGROUNDS, ITS THE BROWSER

Wow, I've been using Firefox as my browser of choice for quite some time.  On AR I've noticed that whenever I'm reading a blog with a background the scrolling is not smooth, but very jerky and slow.  I just chaulked it up to the backgrounds being used.

Tonight I tried several other browsers and the results on the same blog post with a background were different.

Firefox - Jerky and slow

Internet Explorer - Smooth and fast

Safari - Jerky and slow

Opera - Smooth and fast

Chrome - Smooth and fast

Firefox used to be my browser of choice for Active Rain but I guess I'm going to have to switch to Opera.

Yes, I do have five different browsers on my PC.

Richard,

And here I switched from IE to firefox specifically for AR - haven't noticed any issues. :)

Steve,  IE is a dog.  Firefox is great but mine doesn't work well on AR when I encounter a blog with a background.  If you haven't tried Opera you might want to give it a try.  It's the fastest browser I have.

Heather,  With so many browsers out there, all with different add on's, it's difficult to code for every one to work the same.

There's an old post on the Net about turning smooth scrolling on in Firefox.  I don't have FF on this PC, so I can't confirm if it still works in the latest version.

Firefox is certainly a great browser. Understand those that don't want to use IE.

Firefox seems to be the popular choice and IE is a thing of the past.  Interesting post - Thanks!

Hi Richard! The scrolling issue in Firefox is a known issue on some sites. The cure, I've found, is to install a Firefox Add-on from the Firefox Add-ons page. Additionally, you might get blown away by all of the cool Add-ons availale. Back to your issue, I use SmoothWheel, found at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/357. Hope this helps - Let me know.
