GOOGLE ALERTS ARE OFF THE CHARTS

thumbs up sighThere's been a lot of comments about changes going on in Active Rain the last week or so. Many of the comments are legitimate complaints when changes don't go as smoothly as anticipated.

This post isn't to complain because whatever you're doing with Google Juice, guys keep it up. I have to tell you that my Google Alerts for selected keywords has been just crazy the last day or two. I can only attribute it to some change being made at AR. I can put up with a few glitches for the added exposure.

Alerts are now showing up whenever I comment on someone else's post. Until yesterday they only showed up when I posted. The increase in Google Juice has to be having an effect.

We're quick to complain when things go wrong. I want to be as quick to praise when things go right.

Now if I can only find out how to get the points back on Members Only posts...

Richard - Just finished going through mine too... I was just thinking the same thing and I saw your tweet, which lead me here. You're exactly right.

Connie, Thanks! Every day is a great day.

Mark, If you're not familiar with Google Alerts you should do some research. It's an awesome tool to have Google automatically find out whats going on about you and sending you the results.

Debbie, This total linking together with Twitter, Facebook and AR is mind boggling.

Hi Richard. I think this is my first time to visit your blog!

I have experienced the frustration over the last few days trying to post and having a glitch pop up, so it is VERY good to know there is a positive side to that story. Thanks! ~Pat

Hi Richard - I have noticed an increase as well both from the AR URL as well as others. The improvements they are making will be well worth it in the long run.

Richard, I noticed I received some Google Alerts on some comments to blogs I made yesterday. This was a first. Reemphasizes the fact that what we comment on is going out to the world.

Good comments...I always figured that there's a reason behind the madness.  I'm in!

Oh Richard, can you hear the griping a week from now from people who habitually leave not-so-nice remarks finding out that those said remarks are up front and center by Google?

Betcha that will be the "Rant of the Week" next week :-)

Pat, Welcome. Seems like AR is going through some growing pains.

Bill, It's gotta help in the long run, I agree.

Mike, The internet has a long tail and captures more than we would like to know sometimes.

Larry, Active Rain is doing some great things for SEO.

Kris,  It's always prudent to count to ten before posting a rant comment.

Richard - noticed the same thing. Several of the comments were popping up. :) Maybe even this one... ~Rita

Richard,

Guess how I stumbled on this post? Yep, a Google Alert, haha. Thank you for writing this. I have plenty of the 'quick to complain' (not that it's really complaining......things should work how they are suppose to, so please no one take that the wrong way) emails in my inbox so the other side of the coin is nice to read.

I fixed the points for that member's only post. They are back now in full effect!

Brian/Rita, I've been bombarded the last couple of days...and its a good thing.

Bob, You da man. I don't know what you're doing but keep it up. Google alerts are fantastic.

I'm usually not one to complain, prefering to stay focused on being Pleasant, Polite, Personable, Positive, and Professional. I will say that the past few weeks have sometimes felt like working in the rain instead of Playing in the Rain. I even altered my schedule some to get up earlier and get my ActiveRain time in just in case there are mid-day problems like there have been. I'm not an early morning person so once I finish ActiveRain, I'll head on back to bed.
