The good news is that today, I'm eligible for early Social Security.
The bad news is that today, I'm eligible for early Social Security.
Wow! That crept up on me like tight underwear. The first 62 years flew by. I am still trying to figure out though what happened to all that hair on my forehead.
You have to love Italian mothers who thought that pompadour thing was cute.
I'm going to have to disconnect the smoke alarms when we light the cake later tonight.
Happy Birthday Rich. You made it this far somewhat unscathed. Keep going.

Richard - and a very happy birthday (and new year) to you. At least the candles will help you keep warm. My early eligibility sneaks up in August.
Richard-Happy Birthday and I have really appreciated and loved every interaction we have had! Even the fella's think about age! Age=Eloquence...Distinguished..Wisdom! Happy Birthday Friend.
Richard,
Happy Birthday!
Really funny post.
Time goes by way too fast, make sure you continue to live in the present.
Happy Birthday. Time really does fly. Look at it positively. At least you can get some discounts in these tough economic times. Enjoy the day and I hope its your best birthday ever!
Hey that's my stroller! LOL! It is sneaking up on a lot of us very quickly! Have a great one, and just remember the best years lie ahead!
congratulations for making it this far unscathed.
Rich...
So what you're saying is that three days earlier and your parents would have gotten that exemption in 1946?
Oh my gosh, that made me laugh. "That crept up on me like tight underwear." Happy Birthday and fun post.
Happy Birthday, Richard! Love the photo. That hair is a piece of work.
I feel your pain having just gone through this. My 65th was in Sept. I "should" have signed up for SS and my former corp pension in the preceeding months, but just continued to ignore the papers on the kitchen counter. I told my kids I thought I was in denial. (I just knew I couldn't be THAT old!) Finally signed the papers last week as time was running out. Hey, know what! The money I'll start getting from both will surely take the pressure off this real estate business - PLUS I'll have some medical insurance for the first time in 10 years!
I must say the letter that I received from the local funeral home on my BD was a REAL DOWNER! That was just plain cruel.
Mike, At least there's still a few bucks left for us. At least I think there is.
Midori, I feel the same way. Sure we think about age, we just don't talk about it.
Mark, Live every day in the present.
Stacy, You're right, senior citizens discounts are a plus.
Have a happy birthday and a prosperous New Year.
Enjoy.
Ken
Jim, Good old metal and plastic. Not like those Cadillac of strollers kids today have.
Alan, Somewhat unscathed.
Richard, My father always told me that he drove my mother over the railroad tracks several times in late December to try and take advantage of the tax exemption. I believed him.
Gail, I'm on it. Thanks!
Margaret, Thanks! Must have struck a chord, huh?
Elaine, I'm OK with the SS but a letter from the local funeral parlor...thats a downer.
Happy Birthday Richard, it is a hard fact that as we age the time flys by faster. I swear I was 27 yesterday and that would be 20 birthdays ago or so!
Richard, you have a wonderful Happy Birthday today.
~Life is Good
Happy Birthday Rich. It is just a number. Wow discounts at Dennys AND eligibility for Social Security. Age has its benefits.
Hi Rich:
Happy Birthday!
I have to laugh, my Greek mother did that hair thing, to my two older brothers also.
It must be a European custom!
Enjoy your day,
I am so happy you shared this day with us! I really hope it is as special as you. You really deserve a great birthday. God bless,
Marlene
Hello Richard, Happy Birthday to you! Only a guy would publish his age for all the world to see :)..
Now you sure that's not a tomato on your head? LOL!
Ginger
Cindy, I like the way you do math.
Roy, Best present today.
Gary, Told the wife to get dressed and we're heading to Denny's.
Toula, Someday maybe their pictures will come out too.
Marlene, Thank you. They're all special, aren't they?
Ginger, No tomato but my Mother really had to work to get it that high.
Any day is a good day and being your Birthday it is even better!!!
enjoy!
your friend in Charlottesville!
Richard - Sorry I'm so late getting to this today.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Charles, Thanks! Every day is great, not just birthdays.
Debbie, Thanks too. You were busy riding around with the top down avoiding snowbirds. I'm jealous.
With this market, Rich, you may decide to just go ahead and take it now! LOL. Happy BD.
Margaret, Decisions, decisions, decisions. Life would be so much easier if we didn't have so many. Not ready yet but could be at any time. Thanks for the thoughts.
Rich, I have an Irish mom who thought that pompadors were really cute! Maybe it was the times! Happy Birthday!
What is Social Security? LOL
I'm looking forward to the day when I can get all those discounts for people 55 and over. Just another 27 months! Yahoooooooooooooooo!
Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- make it a good start.
Rich, what an adorable picture of you! Thanks for sharing. I hope that you had a great birthday and have many more to come!
